Since October 2022 I’ve been the growth UX writer for Figma (yes, the very same Figma I make my zines in—swoon!).

Before that I worked at Pinterest since early 2018, starting as the UX content designer for growth streams (activation, engagement, messaging). After ~3 years as the content design lead for home feed and search, as well as the company’s in-product response to social issues and building a more inclusive product, I returned to growth as the content design lead across the pillar.

Prior to Pinterest, I was the editorial manager and content designer at the education company Shmoop, where I developed their online course products for grades 5-12. Before that, I was a fifth grade English teacher, civil jury foreman, video store clerk…it’s a lot.

Some favorite projects at Figma:

  • Redesigning the first 30 days at Figma—revamping new user signal collection, curriculum, and different education methods for Figma’s key features

  • Overhauling and standardizing upsells to paid Figma plans—simpler language, value props, and more delightful designs

  • Redesigning community resource pages

  • Managing of the UXW style guide and liaison to design systems team

  • Host at Config 2023

Compassionate search

In 2019, I worked with team of Stanford scientists to develop soothing exercises and activities for people searching for terms related to sadness and self-harm. As the feature’s designer and writer, I owned all steps of the process—from ideation to research, product design and development, to the final copy and implementation.

Read this feature’s press release, praise in the New York Times (2019 Good Tech award winner), and  my piece in Medium about the development process.

User understanding

In 2021 and 2022 I partnered with engineering to develop backend taxonomies to better understand user taste (flexible) compared to their identities (consistent and inherent to them). From there, I worked with design to create new ways of collecting, tuning, and managing your interests.

Logged-out product

In 2020 I helped lead the a redesign of the logged-out experience you see before signing up for Pinterest. I worked closely with research to focus on the best value props for our changing growth markets, as well as with the brand team to update our look. It’s a bold new direction from our previous landing page, and some of my favorite stuff that I’ve worked on (especially that last screen with the gal with the grape earrings).
