Molly Rosen Marriner

Oh hi! I’m Molly, and this is my writerly website.

As a writer, I’ve learned that people…don’t actually Iike to read that much.  So here are some basics.

For infrequent updates, I’d sign up for my free Gmail e-zine by emailing me with just SUBSCRIBE in the subject line.

“Personal” writing

I’m currently working on a Y2K autofiction update of one of my favorite books (!!). I’ll be really bummed when the exact same concept is published years before I finish, but I’m also, you know, trying to not be so attached to outcomes. Um, anyway, here’s some of my favorite finished stuff that you can read (cough, buy):

- An old-timey musical about glory holes
-The memoir Memories of Fat Camp
- The faux Revolutionary War-era woman’s magazíne Content Queene
- The dating pamphlet The Secret Languge of Birth Order
-
The surprisingly bestselling Who BARTed?
- The erotic historical fiction audiobook 26 Stories About a Young Phil Jackson
- The fashion ethnography Stressed, Awkward, Envied
- Bidet reviews
- Really old satire

“Professional” writing

If you’re here to learn about my day job as a UX writer, you’re in luck(ish). I currently work on Figma’s design team,  where I write for cross-product features and manage our style guide with a limp iron fist. More info on LinkedIn,  but here’s a sampling of some of my favorite projects from Figma and previous employ:

- A brand new Figma product (wheee!)
- A not-horribly-received billing remodel
- A responsive and fun signup flow
- A qt community resource page
- Inclusive search and emotional health resources (Pinterest)
- A better logged-out homepage (Pinterest)
- A 10-2 “not guilty” verdict delivered in favor of BART, in less than two hours (Foreman, civil jury, Alameda County)
- Removing the vandalism “Miss Rosen is a looser” from a student’s desk (NYC Dept. of Ed.)

Another favorite Pinterest project was taxonomy that defined peoples’ fixed perma-identities vs. their fleeting current interests. Here’s some fixed vs. fleeting of me, so this website feels a tad more substantial:

Long term identity-formers

- Movies and TV where adults go back to school
- Magazines
- Basset hounds
- Tuna melts
- My scooter
- The mail
- The Salem Witch Trials
- The 1950s (beatniks! squares! had it all)
- Baths
- An impeccable cinematic death scene
- The idea that I could become a docent at the Tenement Museum one day
- Let’s face it, the musical Rent

Recent interests (last updated Dec 30 2025)

- DUALITY (of myself and the universe at large)
- Slathering my face in oil
- Only dressing in black, brown, and white to honor tricolor bassets
- Pruning collections as a procrastination means
- The happy improbability that 2025 was actually a pretty awesome year for media (Playworld, Sky Daddy, Marty Supreme, White Lotus S3, etc.)

You’re still here? Damn. Maybe I was wrong about reading after all…
